Whether you are looking for a romantic dinner with your partner, having a night out with friends, or treating yourself, the atmosphere of these romantic Chicago restaurants goes above and beyond the typical dining experience.

Four Of Chicago’s Most Romantic Restaurants

Bavette’s Bar and Boeuf

Bavette’s Bar and Boeuf, a steakhouse located in River North, reimagines New American cuisine with “a French flair.” They describe themselves as an intimate romantic restaurant and only accept Chicago reservations for parties with up to 6 people. Their menu primarily consists of steak and seafood, but they have several different kinds of salad, chicken, and lamb chops. For seafood, they offer crab cakes, oysters, lobsters, salmon, shellfish, and cod. From martinis to old-fashioned, the bar offers several upscale cocktails as well as wine by the glass. Bavette’s added a 3.25% surcharge to all checks instead of raising their prices due to the pandemic’s effect on the restaurant industry. However, you can request this fee be taken off your bill. The restaurant has locations in both Chicago and Las Vegas.

RPM Steak

RPM Steak in Chicago’s River North offers almost two dozen different cuts of beef from across the world. They feature a less-traditional steakhouse menu with several Japanese-style steaks–with the Japanese Waygu ranging between $26 and $64 per ounce. However, there is something for every price range because of the number of steaks they serve. They also have a cold bar featuring lobster cocktails, chilled oysters, and more alterations of a potato than I have ever seen on a menu: whipped, truffle, rosemary fries, crispy Hasselback, hash browns, and sweet potatoes. This restaurant is classy, romantic, and upscale, offering a private dining room for Chicago celebrations. The dimly lit dining room has just the right amount of mystery and comfort.

Gilt Bar

If you’re a reader, you’ve found your match at the Gilt Bar. In the basement, through an anonymous side door, you will find velvet booths, chandeliers, and books surrounding a hidden bar. Make sure to make a reservation at one of the toughest romantic restaurants in Chicago to secure your spot. This place books up quick! In terms of food, the Gilt serves homemade pasta, seafood, a variety of chicken entrees, and steak. They also have a great happy hour available until 5:30 every day so you can enjoy a romantic Chicago evening with a cheaper restaurant bill.

Duck Duck Goat

Duck Duck Goat is celebrity chef Stephanie Izard’s Chinese-American restaurant in the West Loop. Fresh noodles, spring rolls, fried rice, and crab rangoon are popular items on the menu. The ambiance of Duck Duck Goat, however, is what makes it a required visit. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, with one room honoring Chinese tea culture and another that makes you feel like you’ve time-traveled back to the 1940s. The red bar stools and candles create an elegant, romantic atmosphere perfect for a date night or outing with friends. The Lazy Susans at each table bring nostalgic memories and balance the restaurant’s elegance.
