I think it’s pretty safe to say that while the Catholic church has a pretty large presence in the Midwest, a lot of people don’t explore their faith once they leave the building after weekly mass. Holy Cross Catholic Church is here to challenge that! This welcoming church has created an exceptional community where you can really dig into your beliefs. The church was first opened in 1854 in the farm home of John Lonergan. From there, the few dozen families turned into a few hundred. The current church building was completed in 1994. Today, you’ll find regular services and events as well as a school for students starting in preschool.
The Holy Cross Experience
Holy Cross Catholic Church meets on Saturday evenings as well as throughout the day on Sundays. They also have a daily mass schedule each day. If you have never explored Catholicism before or are just nervous about trying a new spot, they livestream all their services. That way, you can watch it at home before committing!
If Catholicism is brand new for you, we make it easy to get started! For those who have not received the sacraments of initiation, we offer the Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults. These engaging classes let you know where we stand on issues as well as what you can expect when you join the church.

You can come visit us with our regular holiday celebrations, or you can volunteer with our Food Pantry Collection. We also offer ministries for every age. The women’s ministry is a rich space where you can connect with other moms and seek guidance throughout this season of life.
For those who want their child to receive the sacraments, the church offers youth programs to get them ready for their celebration. Their kids’ classes are available for kids from kindergarten through eighth grade.
