Since opening in 1934, they’ve had an international reputation for excellence in treating their furry, feathered, and scaly residents. They’ve also achieved some pretty remarkable zoological feats in their nearly 100 years of service, including caring for the first panda in a US zoo in 1937 and welcoming the first black rhino born in a zoo in 1941.
In 2022, the Brookfield Zoo became Humane Certified by the American Humane Association, a prestigious recognition for their expert care of their animals and the quality of habitats they are provided. Today, the zoo is home to over 3,400 animals of over 500 species from all around the world! When you visit, you can see animals like African Lions, polar bears, giraffes, rhinos, kangaroos, hippos, and so many more – all right here in Chicago!

Brookfield Zoo birthday parties are the perfect way to treat your birthday kid and their favorite people on a trip to one of the country’s best zoos. Recommended for kids ages 3 – 11, their birthday parties come with plenty of perks that will even save you time and effort throughout the planning process.
When you book a party, you’ll get to use their Bramsen Picnic Pavilion as a gathering place for an hour and a half. They have three preset party times throughout the day, ensuring everything runs according to plan and your party gets the focused fun it deserves! Indoor spaces are also available in case of inclement weather or for winter parties. Their parties require a minimum of 15 guests and a maximum of 40 – but if your guest list exceeds 40, they have other event spaces and a full catering menu you can use for an epic celebration.
Your party package includes a full-day admission ticket for every one of your guests. They are welcome to attend the party earlier in the day to spend extra time with the animals. Feel free to make the most of your zoo visit following your reserved party time, too! Additionally, your admission includes pizza, cookies, soft drinks for your guests, plates, napkins, and a special gift for the birthday kid of honor.
